IND vs NZ 3rd ODI: Team India on Tuesday registered a clean sweep ODI series against New Zealand after winning the third match by 90 runs in Indore. Invited to bat, India skipper Rohit Sharma (101 off 85 balls) and Shubman Gill (112 off 78 balls) gave good start to India as the two scored 212-run as a partnership for the first wicket. With the help of hundreds of Rohit and Gill, team India posted 385/9 in 50 overs.
Later in the second inning, team India bowlers Shardul Thakur (3/45 of 6 ov), Kuldeep Yadav (3/62 of 9 ov) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/43 of 7.2 ov) stopped New Zealand on 295 score in 41.2 overs. However, NZ’s batters showed a valiant attempt while chasing. After an early dismissal of F Allen, Opener Devon Conway scored a beautiful hundred. He scored 138-runs off 100 balls with an incredible 138 strike rate. Henry Nicholls (42 off 40 balls) was the second highest scorer of his side.
Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy took three wickets for New Zealand in the first inning, while Michael Bracewell got one.
It was India’s second ODIs clean sweep at home. Earlier, the men in blue picked a clean sweep title against Sri Lanka in this month.
IND vs NZ 3rd ODI also witnessed for Rohit Sharma’s long-time wait for an ODI hundred. The 35-year-old las scored an ODI hundred on January 19, 2020 against Australia in Bengaluru. He waited complete three years to find his 30th century. However, he scored five beautiful half-centuries in the said period.
Rohit is now joint third on the list of most ODI centuries, with astonishing knock in India vs New Zealand 3rd ODI, He has now equal no. of century (30) with former Australia captain Ricky Ponting.
However, Ricky Ponting had taken 375 ODI games to reach the milestone whereas Rohit Sharma’s 30th ODI century came in his 241 game.
