IND vs AUS 3rd T20: Stampede breaks out among fans purchasing tickets in Hyderabad, several injured in lathicharge

Stampede like situation prevailed at the Gymkhana stadium, Secunderabad after people waited in line to purchase offline tickets for the upcoming third T20 cricket match between India and Australia. The match is scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium on September 25th.

DS Chauhan, who is the additional commissioner of police, stated poor and improper arrangements at the ticket counters, limited number of tickets and arrangements of drinking water responsible for a stampede like situation. As per media reports many people standing became the victims of the ensuing scuffle and got injured.

This led to a stampede-like situation. Some of the people, including a woman, fell unconscious in the melee. We immediately rushed them to a corporate hospital nearby and they are out of danger,

Even some police personnel got injured by the attack of the angry mobs. Chauhan added,

We shall inquire into the lapses of the HCA and issue notices to the management for questioning,

In the meanwhile, the state’s sports minister V Srinivasan Goud called for a meeting with the HCA to discuss further developments and how arrangements can be made for the smooth selling of the tickets.

Surprisingly, 30000 people gathered to purchase tickets but only 3000 tickets were being made available.
