India women team captain Harmanpreet Kaur on Tuesday, rectified veteran woman cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s retirement after the England tour series. She paid a glowing tribute to Goswami and said that Her approach toward the team, that’s something nobody can beat.

Veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami’s passion for cricket is unmatched and no body can fill her shoes, said Harmanpreet in a media interaction in Bengaluru on the eve of their departure for their white-ball series in England.

Her approach towards the team, that’s something nobody can beat. When I started playing, she was the one I looked up to, in terms of how she prepares herself. I’m lucky to have witnessed a cricketer like her in person, to have known her up close and to have gotten the opportunity to spend time with and learn so much from, she added.

During the interaction, she also told about two new woman batters- Hemalatha and KP Navgire in the Indian team for the English nation tour. She elaborated on both new batter’s skills.

Earlier, the BCCI official admitted to the highest wicket-taker Goswami’s (252 wickets in ODIs) retirement from international cricket at the start of this month and said that the senior members of the board have decided to give her a proper farewell at Lord’s in England.

There will be three T20Is and three ODIs between Indian women and England women. The T20 series will be played between September 10 to September 15, while the ODI will start on September 11 and go till September 24. The final match of the ODI series will be held at Lord’s.
