In a bowling pro ground (Dubai Stadium) in the initial of the game where the toss plays a crucial role in winning, Sri Lanka defied all odds despite losing the toss and defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the Asia Cup 2022 final at the same venue on Sunday, September 11.

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardena praised on Sri Lanka team’s effort in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan as they won their sixth Asia Cup Title.

In the match, Sri Lanka flattered as they lost their 5 important player in just 8.5 overs, but BhanukaRajpaksha (71 off 45; not out) and all-rounder WaninduHasaranga (36 off 21 balls; 3/27 of 4 ov) helped Sri Lanka to come out under pressure and post a good target of 171 in 20 overs for Pakistan to win. For Pakistan, Harish Rauf took three wickets.

In the chase, Pakistan could manage only 147/10 in 20 overs. Wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan (55 of 49 balls) scored highest and Iftikhar Ahmad scored 32 off 31 balls. For Sri Lanka, Pramod Madhusudan (4/34 of 4 ov) picked the most wickets, WaninduHasaranga took three wickets, Chamika Karunaratne took 2, and MaheeshTheekshana took one wicket.
