An output of the machine learning analysis of 2.3 million tweets by ‘Ofcom

Twitter data proved that Cristiano Ronaldo, The Striker of Manchester United, and Harry Maguire, the center-back player of United are the most abused players. Both United’s legends have received thousands of abusive tweets over their performances in Premier League. According to ‘Ofcom’ (a government-approved regulatory unit in the UK) data analysis report, “2.3 million messages directed at Premier League players over the first five months of the 2021-22 season.


Ronaldo, whose future seems to ebb in United over the last few months has received 12,520 vulgar. Whereas, Maguire has got 8,945 offensive tweets. As per Ofcom’s findings, a total of 60,000 tweets were filtered from the period of August 2021 until the First Month of 2022 Year.

The data revealed 60,000 tweets deemed disrespectful, with 68% of players in the flight having received minimum one post in that period. Nearly 75% of Premier League players have seen vulgar reactions of fans and some of them received daily abuse, said an Ofcom official during the data in public.
