Three matches ODIs and five matches T20Is have been scheduled between both teams
First ODI to be played on July 22 at ‘Queen’s Park Oval’ in Port of Spain
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) spent 3.5 crore INR on booking a chartered flight for Team India to arrive in the West Indies, where the three matches ODI and five matches T20I series have been scheduled between both teams.
According to an India English Daily, a source has revealed that The booking has been done from Manchester in England where Team India recently finished their 2021-22 tour on a great winning note in 4 matches Test Series (2-2), 3 T20Is (2-1), 3ODIs (2-1) in this month.
Source Said,
Team India flew from above England’s source on Tuesday afternoon to Port of Spain (the capital of Trinidad and Tobago) by 11.30 pm IST. The reason a chartered flight was booked for the team was not Covid-19. It’s difficult to book so many tickets on a commercial flight-the Indian contingent includes 16 players and members of the support staff, including head coach Rahul Dravid. There are players’ wives who have traveled to the Caribbean too.
According to flight fare experts, Normally, in a commercial flight, the above expense (on booking) would have been near about 2 crore INR, because a business class ticket from Manchester to Port of Spain is about Rs 2 lakh INR.
BCCI officials clarified on the issue,
Chartered is more expensive than commercial, but it’s a logical and preventive option amid the rapid spread of Covid-19. It’s our duty to protect all players of the team from any kind of flue along with providing necessary facilities for their best performance.
