For all the women cricket fans there’s good news, a top BCCI official has confirmed that the Women’s IPL will most probably be starting from the first week of March next year (2023). Indeed, this is great news for all the cricket fans who love watching cricket and an additive to it a Women’s IPL will add more color to the world class sport.
As per the BCCI official the Women’s IPL league will last for a month which will begin straight after the T20 world cup that sees its closure. Look at the BCCI official to the PTI being anonymous.
Yes, the WIPL will start in the first week of March and we have earmarked a four-week window for the first year. The t20 world cup in south Africa is from February 9-26 and immediately after that we plan to hold WIPL
He further added,
As of now, we are going ahead with five teams but it could be six as there is a lot of interest among potential investors. In due course of time, the process of auctioning of teams will be announced
Speaking of Potential investors, it is understood that franchises like Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings must have expressed their interests in buying the women’s IPL team to make more money with entertainment full-on. The surprising thing is, Ronnie Screwwala who is UTV’s owner has also shown interest in buying one of the women’s IPL teams, however, there’s not much news on it but there are rumors.
BCCI secretary, Jay Shah said,
I am thrilled at the kind of response we have got from the stake holders. Multiple existing IPL teams have inquired and have expressed serious interest in owning WIPL Franchises

Echoing the same, the BCCI chief Saurav Ganguly said,
I strongly believe that next year i.e., 2023 will be a good time to start a full-fledged women’s IPL which will be as big and grand success as men’s IPL
