BCCI Representative may lead ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee

A BCCI representative on the strong ICC Board could chair the Finance and Commercial Affairs (F& CA) Committee of the global cricket body.

The BCCI has yet to make an official announcement, but unless Director Jay Shah decides to send Roger Binney to his ICC and remain a member of the Chief Executive Committee, the ICC will seem to be India’s representative in the decision-making body.

The F&CA Committee is the highest of all ICC subcommittees and p. But India has not chaired the F&CA for a long time and now it is BCCI’s turn to chair the committee,” an ICC insider told PTI about the development.

Shah will be arriving in Melbourne in the next few days for the annual ICC Board meeting.

BCCI’s newly elected Chairman Roger Binney and the IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal will also travel to Australia to watch the T20 World Championships.

It will be interesting to see who will represent the BCCI at the ICC’s Chief Executive Officers Committee (CEC) meeting.

Congress, the President participates in his ICC Council and the Secretary participates in his CEC.

The F&CA Committee is also the committee that determines the ICC’s annual budget, revenue-sharing model, and sponsorship with Rights ownership deals, etc.

As for a chair, incumbent New Zealander Greg Barclay appears to be the frontrunner, but there is a second candidate who has submitted his nomination. Members have remained silent about his second contender.It is understood to be either Zimbabwe cricket board chief Tevenga Muhrani or Singapore’s ImranKhwaja.

Sourav Ganguli will continue as ICC Cricket Committee Head for a three-year term period.
