Former India captain Virat Kohli is set to record another milestone achievement of his career as he gears up to take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup-2022 on Sunday, August 28 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in UAE. The match will be a special occasion for Kohli to feature in the 100th T20I match of his glorious career.
In the order, Kohli will be the first Indian cricketer to play 100 matches across all three formats (ODI, Tests & T20I) of the sport. So, The scheduled match between India and Pakistan is a more momentous occasion for the right-handed batter. Kohli will get to play with a special bat in the match against their arch-rivals Pakistan to show the glorious moment.
As per the report, MRF will sponsor the above special bat of ‘Gold Wizard’ quality for Kohli, and the bat will cost approximately INR 22000. The bat having the text MRF, Gold Wizard can be seen in a viral picture on social media.
Kohli has completed his 100th ODI journey against West Indies in 2013 and 100th Tests journey against Sri Lanka in 2022. In the order, he will play his 100th T20I against ever arch-rivals Pakistan on August 28 in Asia Cup 2022.
Kohli, who is also called the Indian run-machine has played a gigantic innings in all formats of the game. He has totally scored 12, 344 runs in 253 innings of the 262 ODIs, 8074 runs in 102 Tests, and 3308 runs in 91 innings of 99 T20 matches. In T20Is, he has completed 30 brilliant half-centuries with the highest unbeaten 94 against West Indies in December 2019 in Hyderabad, India.
Kohli has scored 766 runs off total 14 innings in Asia Cup. He is on the top six positions in the batters list of Asia Cup History. He is the third Indian batter to score highest in the Asia Cup after top third SR Tendulkar and top five RG Sharma. Tendulkar had scored 971 runs off 21 innings in a total of 23 matches, while, Sharma had scored 883 runs off 26 innings in a total of 27 matches.
Shoaib Malik, the Pakistani batter is in the fourth number with 907 runs off 19 innings in a total of 21 matches, while, KC Sangakkara of Sri Lanka is inthe second number with 1075 and his compatriot ST Jayasurya is on top 1 with 1220 runs. Sangakkara had played 23 innings as well as 24 matches and Jayasurya had played a total of 24 innings in 25 matches.
