The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15 members India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup-2022. Rohit Sharma will lead India. Virat Kohli, who was rested for recent T20Is against West Indies, has been included. KL Rahul who was taking rest for health cause has also been added to the squad as Vice Captain. Whereas, Pacer Jaspreet Bumrah and Harshal Patel will not be available as they are injured. The three stars Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar have been named as standby players.
According to BCCI, the All India Senior Selection Committee picked these players in the squad. Rohit Sharma (Captain). KL Rahul (Vice-Captain) Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan.

Japreet Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection owing to injuries. They are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengluru, BCCI wrote on twitter.
Three players- Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Deepak Chahar have been named as standbys, added BCCI.
The championship will take place in UAE and start on August 27 and continue till September 11. There will be six teams including blue jersey men, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and a qualifier team.
The teams are divided in two groups A& B. India is placed in Group A with their arch-rival Pakistan. Team India will play their first match on August 28 against Pakistan.
