Andy Murray wants to change himself to return to the tennis rankings by 2023

Former world number one Andy Murray said he must change if he wants to return to the top by 2023. Murray was eliminated in the third round at the US Open and won just three matches in Gion, Basel, and Paris.  Andy said he didn’t work hard enough to perform at the highest level and had to change that.

“My opinion of the last four or five months is that I have not worked hard enough to perform at the level that I need to. “I have to change that if I want to get back to the top of the game,”

The three-time Grand Slam winner said he had been frustrated and struggling with cramps in recent months.

“I’ve been pretty frustrated these past few months. For the last seven or eight tournaments, I’ve had cramp issues. I’ve never had it consistently. So, I am very disappointed. “I can deal with losing a tennis match because it’s a tough sport and sometimes you don’t perform as well as you’d like. But there’s no excuse to let yourself down physically,”

He said he jumped almost a hundred places to reach the top 50 but is unsatisfied with the results.

“At the beginning of the season, I was 130-140 in the world and now I’m in the top 50. It’s a positive year for most players. I don’t see it that way myself, but I did progress. “No, it’s a guarantee I would have won those matches without the brace. But then, it feels like there could have beendeeper runs,”

Finally, Murray said he was delighted to see young players like Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu flourish on England’s biggest stage.

“Jack hashuge potential and he’s only been around for six or seven months. I was lucky enough to train with him and hang out with him. The future is bright for him, as well as for Emma Raducanu.”
