The lad from God’s Own Country – Sanju Samson – can he maintain consistency and keep his place in the Indian team?
Danish Kaneria, the former Pakistan bowler, was praised Sanju given his performance in the IND Vs. IRE 2nd T20I against Ireland. If he continues to maintain his game, he will have a better chance to keep his place as the wicketkeeper in the Indian team. Given the opportunity in hand, Sanju cannot be laidback, as he has on his tail Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, and Ishan Kishan. Kaneria stated on his YouTube channel:
“The T20 WORLD CUP 2022 is rapidly approaching, and India has a plethora of options for the wicketkeeper’s role, including Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson.” Samson was given the chance (against Ireland) and took the advantage of it. But it continues to remain to be seen whether he can maintain consistency”.
The 27-year-old player from Kerala, has made a noteworthy impact in the Indian Premier League 2022 as a batsman. He has performed as the second highest run getter for the Rajasthan Royals (RR with 458 runs from 17 games. He has received accolades for his performance from all quarters.
Samson got his opportunity for the Final T20I in Dublin when Ruturaj Gaikwad suffered injury in the first game. Sanju seized the opportunity at the top order and scored 77 runs off 42 deliveries – blasting nine boundaries and four sixes. Samson and Deepak Hooda had a fantastic partnership run of 176 runs.
Sanju remains humble with his game and achievements crediting his partners. After India won the T20I by 4 runs, Sanju told Sony Sports:
“I think Hooda made it very easy for me. He came in with an intent to go after the bowling very hard from the word go, which made it easy for me. We communicated really well. When Hooda was going on, I was happy to give the strike to him. When I was hitting it, he also did the same.
