At 16, Kaamya Karthikeyan becomes the youngest Indian to summit Mt Everest.

India’s Kaamya Karthikeyan became the youngest Indian to scale Mount Everest, peaking at 8,849 meters on the Nepal side. She is also the second youngest in the world to climb Everest. During his journey, his father, a member of the Indian Navy, Cadr. S Karthikeyan also helped him climb Mount Everest. Western Naval Command visited X to congratulate the father and daughter duo.

They wrote: “Ms. Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 16-year-old student of Class XII of the Navy Children’s School, Mumbai, along with her father, Cdr S Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy, successfully climbed Mount Everest (8,849 m). 20, 24.”

Sharing this tweet, the Indian Navy said, “#IndianNavy congratulates Ms. Kaamya Karthikeyan d/o Cdr S Karthikeyan for becoming the world’s youngest and second #Indian girl to summit Mount Everest from on the Nepali side. Kaamya showed great courage and bravery by recording the sixth highest peak in the seven continents.”

The news came a day after Arunachal Pradesh’s Kabak Yano etched her name in history by becoming the fifth woman from the state to scale Mount Everest. She was the first woman from the Nyishi tribe to do this. Yano accomplished this remarkable feat at 11:50 am on Tuesday alongside five other members of the summit team Babu Sherpa, Ngima Dorjee Sherpa, Subash Rai, Lakpa Nurbu Sherpa and Shere Sherpa all hailing from Nepal.
