Mike Conley of the Minnesota Timberwolves was named the 2022–23 Sportsmanship Award recipient by the NBA on Friday.
This prize is given to the athlete who best exemplifies sportsmanship on the court. Conley has received this honour four times, which is the most in NBA history.
Conley won the prize by defeating other contenders Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings, Boban Marjanovic of the Houston Rockets, Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, and Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks.

Runner-up Marjanovic received 91 first-place votes but only 2,665 total votes, while Conley received 96 first-place votes and 2,739 overall voting points.
One player from each NBA team was put forward for the Sportsmanship award. A panel of NBA executives chose one finalist from each of the league’s six divisions from among the 30 teams that were nominated.
Six finalists were chosen by active NBA players, and roughly 400 players cast votes for the winner in a secret balloting process run by the league office.
