5 Indian players who receive MCC Life Membership

The prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Life Membership, from the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground. On Wednesday, the club awarded world champion captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni a “lifetime membership” with four other top Indian internationals. The others are Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, ex-captain Mitali Raj, and the legendary Jhulan Goswami. The MCC has announced the appointment of 19 new Honorary Life Members from eight pilot countries. The club’s Cricket Committee sees the life sentences of players as recognition of the “outstanding international careers of some great players”. Membership is availableto those who have made “outstanding contributions” to a club or sport. “Five Indian players have got Honorary Life Memberships. Jhulan Goswami, who withdrew from the England-India women’s one-day match at Lord’s last year, is the ODI women’s top scorer. Mitali Raj leads the starting list with 7,805 from 211 rounds.  “MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh were a vital part of the Indian team that won the 2007 Men’s ICC T20 World Championship as well as the 2011 Men’s ICC World Cup,” As per the information on the MCC website.

The list of honoured cricketers includes England’s Eoin Morgan and Kevin Pietersen, Dale Steyn from South Africa, Rachael Haynes from Australia, Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez, Bangladesh’s Mashrafe Mortaza, Amy Satterthwaite and Ross Taylor from New Zealand.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of MCC briefed: “We are happy to announce the creation of a new group of MCC Honorary Life Members in preparation for the new International Summer.  This is our honor to reckon you among our valued club members.”
