India’s doublesNo.1 women’s tennis player Sania Mirza has confirmed her retirement plan from tennis at the Dubai Tennis Championship. That is a WTA a thousand event, that begins on February 19. (Read Also: Berrettini stirs Italy towards a big win in United Cup)
The 36-year-old Sania Mirza at the start was supposed to hold up her racket at the top of last season. But an elbow injury dominated her out of the U.S. Open and made her finish 2022 as early as August.
A 6-time major champion – 3 times in doubles and 3 times in mixed doubles – Sania Mirza has signed up to contend for this month’s Australian Open with Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina.
The Indian tennis star who has been living in Dubai for quite a decade. So, she can then look to bid farewell to the game within the Emirates. Wherever she has competed for several years following her large fanbase.
Mirza has been handling a lingering calf downside issue. However, is hoping it will not prevent her from saying goodbye from the court field.
“I was aiming to stop right once the WTA Finals. As a result, we tend to be going to create the WTA Finals. But I ripped the` ligament in my elbow right before the U.S. Open. Therefore, I had to tug out of everything,” Sania said.
“And honestly, the person who I am, I like to try and do things on my own terms. Therefore,I do not wish to be forced out by injury. Therefore,I have been training. The arrangement to undertake and retire in Dubai throughout the Dubai duty-free Tennis Championships,” she added.
“I’m 36, and honestly my body is beaten, that’s the most reason for it. and that I extremely haven’t got the capability in my mind to show push that a lot anymore. I turned professional in 2003. Priorities change, and currently, my priority isn’t to push my body to the limit every single day,” Sania said.
A mother to a 4-year-old boy Izhaan, Mirza has recently launched a Tennis academy in Dubai, that already operates in 3 locations and can venture into 2 additional neighborhoods within the upcoming weeks.
