The India Vs England 3-match T20I series has come to a place where both teams are standing at 1-1 with one win each. In the second T20I match between the duo, the English side won the toss and decided to set the target for the women in blue. The English side sent out there two openers in the form of Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley but unfortunately during the powerplay and at the very beginning (9-1) Sophia Dunkley lost her wicket in an effort playing the bowl out of the boundaries and getting stumped from behind. With Sophia this was the first wicket for the Indian team. Joining the league of getting out early players Alice Capsey (4 off 6 balls), Danni Wyatt (6 off 5 balls faced), Bryony Smith for 16 off 15 balls faced,Amy Jones 17 runs off 20 balls faced, and Maia Boucher (34 off 26).
From the English side it was Frey kemp who played her fantabulous innings making her first half century (51* off 37 balls) becoming the second youngest English female cricketer to hit an international half century.
By the finish of innings, England has to settle for 142 runs with the loss of 6 wickets.
With the start of the second innings, Indian came on the grounds with its first two openers with the likes of Shafali Varma and Smriti Mandana. After coming to the crease, the the duo took a full advantage of the weak bowling side, smashing 4’s at every corner of the stadium, but the momentum got a hit when Shafali Varma (20 off 17 balls) mistimed her bowl and gave a simple catch to the bowler Sophie Ecclestone.
What then, Smriti Mandana took the charge of the play and played a blistering knock of 79* not out of 53 balls which also includes 13 4s. Smriti Mandhana’s fantabulous innings guided India to a series-levelling eight-wicket win over England.
Smriti Mandhana, credited for the victory, was also declared the player of the match. India won the match by 8 wickets leveling the series by 1-1.
The next match between India and England will take place on tomorrow i.e., 14th September, held at the Gloucestershire Cricket Stadium. It will be interesting to see both teams putting their best in winning the series.
